Businessman and NCP party worker Gulfam Khan (32) died in a road mishap near Lonavala on Tuesday evening.

Khan's friend Naveed Qureshi (35) was apparently driving his Scorpio at a speed of 140 kmph. Preliminary inquires by the Lonavala police reveal that Qureshi lost control of the vehicle after the front tyre deflated and hit the roadside barrier before plunging into a 20 ft water channel on the Express Highway.

By the time the rescue team pulled them out, it was too late. They were taken to a nearby municipal hospital but were declared dead. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as 'hemorrhagic shock with multiple injuries'.
