Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane, who was inducted in the state cabinet has been given the Industry portfolio late Friday night, till now held by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

Rane was inducted in the Maharashtra cabinet on Thursday. Another cabinet minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, who was also sworn-in, has been allocated School Education and Law and Judiciary portfolio. Naseem Khan has been given the Home (Urban) portfolio.

The portfolio allocation was made late Friday night, sources in the Chief Minister Office said.

Rane was suspended from Congress in December last after he launched an attack on party leadership after being sidelined from the chief ministerial post.

His suspension was revoked earlier this month after he tendered an apology to the party high command over his remark.
