Taking a cue from Shiv Sena, the MNS lashes out at Pak cricketers in the wake of the warm-up T20 match yesterday; the Sena wanted Aussies banned from IPL
The Marathi manoos versus the 'outsiders' issue has erupted once again, but this time the 'outsider' is not the one from North India but from across the border the Australian and Pakistani cricketers.
Playing with enemy
Shinde led the Shiv Sena's protest against the Indo-Pak match in October 1991 and dug up the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium.
Like the Shiv Sena, the MNS also condemned the treatment meted out to Indians by the Aussies.
However, Shinde denied any similarities between the attack on North Indians in the city, which was instigated by the MNS and the situation Down Under today.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
"Our students are not like the bhaiyyas, who come and forge documents. These are students who were invited to the country for education and the education is not free. They have paid the fees and do not deserve to be
ill-treated.
"What happened in Mumbai cannot be compared to Australia. This is a global phenomena," he said.
Remove them
The Shiv Sena believes that ousting Australian players from IPL will teach them a lesson. Sanjay Raut, senior Sena MP and also the editor of Saamna, said, "Balasaheb wants the IPL owners to remove the Australian players because those players who earn money from us are not offering any support to Indians being beaten up in Australia. Removing Australian players will be tit for tat."
