Party workers have booked 1,000 kg mithai, 6-ft garlands, Dhol bands in anticipation of victory ahead of counting day
While political leaders are chewing their nails waiting for the poll results, their party workers are busy with the post-victory preparations.
Apparently, workers across parties have already booked over 1,000 kgs of sweets, humongous 6-ft garlands, and special Pune and Nashik dhol bands to celebrate the victories of their leaders.
Viral Shah, a BJP supporter from Mulund, has already ordered 51 kg of sweets to celebrate Kirit Somaiya's victory. "We are sure that our candidate is going to sweep the elections in Mumbai North-East.

Blessing in disguise
And sweetshop owners are thrilled with these bulk orders. Anil Agrawal, owner of Brijwasi Sweets, Mulund, is delighted with the high number of advance orders even before the results are declared.
"Till date everyone used to purchase sweets from us on the day of the occasion. But we were surprised to receive advance orders that too in these times of recession," he said.
Similarly Haider Khan, a Ram Naik supporter, has planned to book nearly a thousand kilos of laddoos anticipating Naik's win. "We will start distributing sweets from early morning," he said.
The leaders however chose to play it safe and were non-committal. Neel, son of Kirit Somaiya, said, "We will celebrate, but it is premature to talk about it right now."
Even Mumbai Congress president Kripashankar Singh and Ram Naik's daughter Vishaka Kulkarni claimed they had made no special arrangements, saying celebrations will happen only after the results are declared.
Floral fiesta
Shyam Bhagat, a florist from Dadar, has received bookings for several 6-ft long garlands (worth Rs 5,000-6,000 each) from political parties.
Supporters of Nilesh Rane, son of Narayan Rane, have booked a 6-ft mogra garland, while Congressmen too have booked a similar garland for Priya Dutt.
Santosh Kadam, a wholesaler from Dadar flower market, too has started receiving orders from political parties.

"There are few bookings, but we are yet to receive the big orders," said Kadam, who is anticipating huge business after the results are announced.

Liquor sales up
Even the sale of liquor has picked up, as local party leaders are stocking up on alcohol to add to the celebrations.
Sanjeev Sethi, owner of Variety Wine Merchants, Juhu, agreed that sales have gone up ahead of counting day (a dry day). "The real increase in sale will only be observed on Sunday," said Sethi.
While Ravi Dodeja, a retailer from Powai, too has observed an increase in the business yesterday. "We have observed a 30 per cent hike in sales yesterday, as counting day is a dry day," said Dodeja.
