Mumbai: A backside portion of a building at Mohammed Ali Road collapsed last evening at around 7 pm.

According to sources, the reason behind this collapse was that the iron slabs of the back side of the building were very weak.

It was under repair as the foundation and slabs were weak. But before the repair work got over, the building portion collapsed.

Two fire brigades were called from Bhendi Bazzar fire station. No one from the residents was injured in the incident.

The collapse led to a lot of traffic jams on the road. Starting from JJ Road, the traffic jams continued up to Kalbadevi for at least an hour. Vehicles were not allowed to enter Mohammed Ali Road as the road was closed because of the collapse.

The vehicles which were supposed pass Mohammed Ali Road went from Pydhonie Road which is extremely narrow, which became the main reason for the traffic jam.
