It's well known that Ranbir Kapoor's role in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is a backhanded homage to his grandfather Raj Kapoor's portrayal in Awara and Shree 420.
What is not known so far is that Ranbir has also paid tribute to his granduncle, Shammi Kapoor, in one of the film's sequences.

Ranbir suggested they keep the dancing as real as possible and director Rajkumar Santoshi agreed.
"It's a scene where I'm fooling around with Katrina. Yes, I did do some Shammi Kapoor movements. There was no choreographer. It's supposed to be funny and stupid," said Ranbir.
In Saawariya, Ranbir had pulled off his other granduncle Shashi Kapoor's steps in a song-and-dance sequence.

As for doing his father Rishi Kapoor's dance steps, Ranbir said they will take time. "It would need a lot of guts," he added.
