When he didn't receive his salary for two months, Mohammad Sheikh kidnapped his ex-employer's son to demand ransom. He is untraceable but police manage to find boy
Frustrated at not receiving his salary for two months, a 24 year-old man kidnapped his boss's 13 year-old son to demand ransom. The accused, identified as Raja, was working six years ago with Mohammad Sheikh (35), the father of the victim, at his embroidery shop in Shivaji Nagar. The child, after being traced to Bihar, was brought back to Mumbai by the Shivaji Nagar police on July 28.
Asgar Sheikh was kidnapped on July 14, when he had stepped out of his home in Govandi to play. The victim's grandmother, who resides in the same area, got a call from Raja on July 21, asking for a sum of Rs 3 lakh.
Sheikh immediately contacted the police, who, during the course of the investigation, tracked the mobile number down to Bihar. The Shivaji Nagar police, with the help of the Bihar police, launched a search operation and successfully traced the boy. Raja however, managed to escape before the police could arrive at the spot in Madhubani district of Bihar.
According to the police, Raja had kept the boy at his relative's home, identifying him as his friend's son. "I am thankful to the police for bringing my son back. I was praying for his return, and now that he has, I don't need anything else from God," said a relieved Sheikh.
"We are yet to arrest Raja since he fled from the spot, but we are happy to have traced Asgar. We have taken down the statement of the relative at whose home Asgar was found," said senior police inspector Radhesham Agarwal of Shivaji Nagar police station.
