State to set up nodal body to tackle terror

In order to ensure that 26/11 is not repeated, the state government plans to form a nodal coordinating body, Rajya Suraksha Committee (RSC), for effective coordination among the law enforcement agencies and to probe warnings received from the Intelligence.

In order to ensure that 26/11 is not repeated, the state government plans to form a nodal coordinating body, Rajya Suraksha Committee (RSC), for effective coordination among the law enforcement agencies and to probe warnings received from the Intelligence.

Senior officers from Mumbai, the state police and intelligence agencies will hold a meeting today at Mantralaya to formulate policies of the RSC.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

"The idea is to develop better coordination between the state police and the National Investigating Agency, a federal body, which will be formed to deal with terror and external threat to the country. Plans and strategies to tighten surveillance will be discussed," said Minister for State Home Nitin Raut.

City's top cops Commissioner of Police Hasan Gafoor, Director General of Police A N Roy, State Intelligence Commissioner D Sivanandhan, Joint Commissioners Rakesh Maria, K L Prasad and Param Bir Singh from the ATS will be a part of this meeting that will discuss weaponry best suited for Mumbai and the possibility of bringing the city under satellite surveillance.
