Bombay House, the Tata group's headquarters in Mumbai, on Tuesday was awarded the platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council.

TataCyrus P Mistry, Chairman, Tata Sons, receives the plaque from Dr. Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC on Tuesday.


According to a release sent out by TATA, it's the first heritage building in India to be awarded with platinum rating.



The building was built in 1923, and was designed by British architect George Wittet, designer of the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum) and the Institute of Science.

These rating are given on the basis of various measures which includes energy saving, reduction in water consumption, using renewable energy, segregation of waste and conservation of resources.
