The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has unearthed properties worth crores, besides cash and gold, owned by two Income Tax officials, CBI officials said on Saturday.

The illegal wealth came to light during the raids conducted by the CBI after one of the officials was caught allegedly taking bribe on behalf of his senior on Thursday.

The CBI, which detained I-T officer TV Mohan for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh on behalf of his senior, Additional Commissioner KM Keshkamat, from a real estate agent to clear his Income Tax assessment records in suburban Borivli, was formally arrested today, officials said.

A chartered accountant, identified only as Deepak, who was allegedly involved in the case, has also been arrested, they said.

"Keshkamat has been detained and would be arrested later in the day," the officials said, adding further searches are on to ascertain exact unaccounted property of Keshkamat. During the raids, CBI officials come across three flats owned by Keshkamat valued at Rs 1.30 crore, Rs 85 lakh and Rs 82 lakh each in Hiranandani Complex in neighbouring Thane district.
