To accommodate the festive rush during Chhath Puja and Diwali, the Indian Railways has announced the operation of 12 additional special trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Mumbai, and Varanasi. These special services aim to ease travel for passengers heading to and from Uttar Pradesh during the high-demand festive period.

The special trains will run between October 13 and November 18. They are expected to benefit thousands of passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, especially during the busy holiday weeks.

Train schedule

Train No 04225 (LTT–Varanasi Special) will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 4.55 pm every Tuesday, from October 14 until November 18. It will arrive in Varanasi at 2.05 am on the third day.

On the return journey, Train No 04226 (Varanasi–LTT Special) will leave Varanasi at 1.35 am every Monday, from October 13 to November 17, and reach LTT at 2.25 pm the next day.

Halts

The trains will halt at several key stations along the route, including Thane, Kalyan, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi, Rani Kamlapati (Bhopal), Bina, Jhansi, Orai, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Sultanpur, and Jaunpur City.

Coach composition

Each of these special trains will consist of 15 coaches, including 4 AC 2-Tier coaches, 9 AC 3-Tier coaches, and 2 generator cars.

Bookings for Train No 04225 will open on Sunday, October 12.

Harbour Line to face mega block on October 12; no disruption on Main Line

Central Railway will conduct a mega block on the Harbour Line this Sunday to facilitate critical engineering and maintenance work.

The block will be enforced between Kurla and Vashi stations from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm, affecting services on both the UP and DOWN lines.

Train services from CSMT to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel departing between 10.34 am and 3.36 pm will remain cancelled. Similarly, Harbour Line services from Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi heading to CSMT between 10.17 am and 3.47 pm will also be cancelled.

To minimise disruption for commuters, special suburban trains will operate on the CSMT–Kurla and Panvel–Vashi sections during the block hours. Moreover, passengers on the Harbour Line will be allowed to use the Thane–Vashi/Nerul route between 10 am and 6 pm on Sunday as an alternative.

In a relief to Main Line commuters, the railway authorities have clarified that no mega block will be imposed between CSMT and Kalyan on the same day.

Central Railway has urged passengers to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the administration during this scheduled maintenance window, which is essential to ensure the safety and reliability of the suburban rail network.
