Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday paid floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial (Hutatma Smarak) on the occasion of Maharashtra State Martyrs’ Memorial Day. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also visited the memorial to honour the martyrs.

State Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar and several other leaders were also present to pay their respects.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the state government had made “every possible effort” to accelerate development over the past three and a half years.

“Today is a day to pay homage to the martyrs. Because of their sacrifice, we are able to see this day. Mumbai became a part of Maharashtra because of them. That is why we are working tirelessly to improve infrastructure and facilities. Over the past three and a half years, we have made every possible effort for the state’s development,” Shinde said.

Maharashtra State Martyrs’ Memorial Day is observed every year on November 21 to commemorate the 106 individuals who laid down their lives for the formation of the state. Their sacrifice is honoured at the Flora Fountain Martyrs’ Memorial (Hutatma Smarak) in Mumbai.

Earlier on November 16, CM Fadnavis laid the foundation stone for the XSIO Industrial and Logistics Park in the Vadgaon area along the Samruddhi Mahamarg.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government is developing a dedicated access road from the Samruddhi Highway to Vadhavan Port, with the plan already approved.

Vadhavan Port is among the world’s leading ports. The dedicated access road will significantly benefit logistics parks and industries in the region. We have introduced a comprehensive logistics policy for Maharashtra. Those with land or infrastructure can now create various types of facilities that will thrive in this ecosystem,” Fadnavis said.

Stating that the state government has brought a logistics policy that is adequate for industries and is trying to reduce logistics rates by providing better communication facilities in the industry sector, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that Nagpur city will gain momentum towards becoming the logistics hub of the country through XSIO.
