The Maharashtra Government has unveiled a series of landmark initiatives to mark the 350th Shahidi Shatabdi of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, aimed at spreading awareness about the life, teachings, and supreme sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, particularly among younger generations across the country.

As part of the commemoration, a special postal stamp and a commemorative sovereign coin in honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be released during the Shatabdi Year.

A three-day historical exhibition showcasing rare manuscripts, heritage weaponry, community history, and the legacy of saints will be held across Maharashtra during upcoming Samagams:

Nagpur: Sunday, December 7

Kharghar (Navi Mumbai): December 21

Nanded: January 24, 2026

The exhibitions will highlight the collective heritage and contributions of Sikh, Sikligar, Banjara, Labana, Mohyal, Valmiki, and Sindhi communities, focusing on their role in history, culture, and service to the nation.

Additionally, a multi-lingual book on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, in Hindi, Marathi, English, and Punjabi, will be launched to further enrich public awareness.

The state-level exhibition committee, chaired by Bal Malkit Singh, executive chairman of the Maharashtra State Punjabi Sahitya Academy, will hold official meetings on 24th January 2026 in Mumbai to review preparations. Key officials, including the additional district collector (Konkan Bhavan) and committee member Ravindra Pawar, participated in detailed planning sessions covering exhibition logistics, presentation, and arrangements for all venues.

Bal Malkit Singh said, “This Shatabdi Year is a sacred opportunity to honour the unparalleled sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Our endeavour is to ensure that his message of righteousness, faith, freedom, and humanity reaches every household across Maharashtra and Bharat.”
