The Mumbai-Pune Expressway will face a one-hour complete traffic shutdown on Tuesday due to electricity-related work being carried out by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).

According to a traffic notification issued by the Office of the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), all vehicular movement (both light and heavy vehicles) will be prohibited between KM 9.500 and KM 10.000 near Kone Bridge from 2 PM to 3 PM on Tuesday.

The restriction applies to both directions, from Mumbai to Pune and Pune to Mumbai, during the work window.

Alternate routes announced

To ease traffic congestion, the traffic department has suggested the following diversions:

● For Mumbai-to-Pune-bound vehicles

Use Konkanbhumi Circle – JNPT Road – D Point – Palaspe Phata to merge onto NH-48.

Take the Shedung Exit (KM 20.200) on the expressway and join NH-48.

● For Pune-to-Mumbai-bound vehicles

Exit at Khopoli (KM 39.900) and use NH-48 toward Mumbai.

Exit at Khalapur Toll Plaza (KM 32.500) and take the Pali Bridge route to NH-48.

Re-entry onto the expressway is permitted at:

Khalapur Toll Plaza (KM 32.200)

Majik Point (KM 41.700)

The advisory, issued under the Motor Vehicles Act provisions, will remain in effect until the scheduled electricity work is completed, said Praveen Salunkhe, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Maharashtra.
