Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid floral tributes to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting terrorists during the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 on Wednesday.

As reported by news agency PTI, along with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and State Minister Ashish Shelar also paid their heartfelt tributes at the martyrs' memorial in the premises of the Police Commissioner's Office in south Mumbai, where senior police officials were also present.

Along with senior Maharashtra leaders and police officials, the family members of the policemen who lost their lives during the terror attack also paid tributes to the martyrs, remembering their sacrifices on this day in 2008.

As many as 166 people lost their lives, and over 300 were injured after 10 terrorists from Pakistan launched simultaneous attacks in several parts of Mumbai on November 26, 2008, bringing the city to a standstill.

Ten armed militants from the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) entered the city via the sea and carried out a series of coordinated attacks across multiple high-profile locations, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Oberoi Trident Hotel, CST Railway Station, and Nariman House.

The terror attack did prompt a global condemnation and led to significant changes in India's counter-terrorism measures.

26/11 survivor recalls harrowing night at Taj Mahal Palace

After seventeen years, Dilip Mehta, who is one of the survivors of the 26/11 attacks, still remembers every detail of the night that changed Mumbai forever. While speaking to midday.com, Mehta asserted his ordeal.

On the night of the assault, he was at the Taj Mahal Palace, attending a programme in one of the banquet halls, when terror struck and the hotel came under siege.

In 2008, I was invited to an event at the Rendezvous Banquet Hall on the 22nd floor of the Taj Mahal Hotel. I still remember every single detail of the day. When I took the elevator up that evening, I could have never imagined that it would not be available to bring me down 10 hours later. Everything changed at precisely 9.42 pm that day," said Mehta.
