In an impressive display of honesty and quick action, the station manager of Reay Road railway station in Mumbai, along with his team, successfully traced and returned a camera bag worth Rs 3 lakh to a commuter who had forgotten it on a local train on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Station manager, Vinayak Shewale, along with the railway security team swung into action and began the search following the bag missing report by the commuter, they said.
According to the acknowledgement letter written by the commuter, Manushree Singh, she accidentally left behind her Canon camera bag while travelling from Sewri to CSMT at around 11:30 am on December 3, 2025.
"The bag contained a camera body, two lenses and a charger. On realising that her bag was missing, she immediately informed the railway authorities," an official said.
Acting on her report, railway officials launched a coordinated search across multiple stations and local trains running on the same route. After hours of effort, the team successfully located the lost bag and confirmed that all the items were intact.
Singh later collected her belongings from the Reay Road station office, where station manager Shewale and the railway security staff officially handed over the recovered bag, the officials said.
