The Western Railway (WR) has announced a major block in connection with the construction work of the 6th line between Kandivali and Borivali sections in Mumbai. The block will be undertaken for a period of 30 days will continue up to January 18, 2026.
According to a press release issued by WR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, the block is necessary to facilitate the ongoing infrastructure augmentation aimed at enhancing line capacity and improving suburban and long-distance train operations.
WR has released the list of the affected services during the period from the night of 30th/31st December (Tuesday/Wednesday), 2025, to January 6 (Tuesday), 2026. Between this period, multiple line blocks will be undertaken at night hours. The UP Fast line will be blocked from 11.15 pm to 3.15 am, the 5th line from 11 pm to 3.30 am, and the DOWN Fast line during the shutdown margin.
Owing to these blocks, a few trains will be affected in terms of regulation, diversion, short termination or cancellation. WR has advised passengers to check the status of their trains before commencing their journey.
