CR, WR issue new curbs; allow only essential employees, including govt and medical personnel, people needing medical treatment, COVID-19 vaccine beneficiaries

Not everyone can take local trains till May 1. Both Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) will only allow employees in the essential services sectors and people in need of medical treatment.
The new order came into effect at 8 pm on Thursday and will remain in place till 7 am on May 1, according to the circulars issued on Thursday.
CR officials said local train tickets will be issued only at the counters, and everything else — Jansadharan Ticket Booking Seva, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines and mobile app — has been disabled until further notice. CR has also reduced the services to 1,392 from the existing 1,686 and they will be run as per the Sunday timetable even on weekdays. All AC local trains have been cancelled.
But WR services have not been curtailed, officials said.
Who all are allowed?
As per an internal letter of WR, the list of indicative essential services staff include all government (state/central/local) personnel with valid identity card, central government public sector undertakings. Employees of Income Tax department, GST, Customs, Department Of Post, Mumbai Port Trust, Judiciary and Raj Bhavan.
All employees at Mantralaya, including collector’s office, defence personnel, police, Government Railway Police and employees of all municipal corporations, including civic school teachers and contractual workers. Employees of the BEST, MSRTC, MBMT, VVMT, NMMT, TMT and KDMT. The entire railway staff, including those in public sector undertakings (MRVC, IRCTC, etc) and all who have permission to travel in workmen special trains.
All government/private hospital and clinic employees, and medical personnel (doctors/paramedics/lab technicians/pharma staff) with ID cards issued by the concerned institution.
People who need to travel for medical treatment or COVID-19 vaccination specially abled people, along with one person accompanying them. Passengers of outstation trains.
