The IMD has issued a nowcast warning for moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and parts of Pune, Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur. Thunder, lightning, and gusty winds are likely in some areas. High tides and increased water levels in lakes supplying Mumbai have been reported amid continued monsoon activity.

The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday issued a nowcast warning of moderate to heavy rain in Mumbai and surrounding districts. The IMD has also issued a warning on strong winds across Maharashtra while requesting people to stay cautious when they move out of their houses.
As per the advisory issued by the IMD, isolated areas in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the ghat regions of Pune, Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur are likely to witness significant rainfall activity during the next 3 to 4 hours on Monday.
The weather forecasting agency has also cautioned about the possibility of thunder and lightning, which may be accompanied by gusty winds in some areas. These weather conditions are commonly associated with monsoonal convective activity, which has picked up pace over the past few days across central and western Maharashtra.
However, the IMD's Santacruz observatory on Monday morning recorded a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory reported a high of 31 degrees Celsius and a low of 24.6 degrees Celsius, as per the latest Mumbai weather updates.
With the Mumbai monsoon making conditions around the coast a lot more tense, the IMD has stated that high tides on Monday are expected at 4:27 AM with a height of 4.47 metres, followed by another high tide at 2:28 AM on 15 July, reaching 3.88 metres. The low tide will occur at 8:33 PM with a height of 1.45 metres, and the next low tide is expected at 8:07 AM on 15 July at 0.97 metres.
Rainfall in Mumbai
In terms of rainfall, the city recorded 11.92 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while the eastern suburbs registered 22.64 mm and the western suburbs received 15.84 mm.
Furthermore, due to ample rainfall in the Mumbai city, the water levels in seven lakes which supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 75.79 per cent.
