A woman allegedly attempted to kill herself at the Byculla railway station washroom but was saved after being rushed to a hospital, officials said on Friday.
According to the officials, the incident took place at the women’s public toilet at railway station when the young woman, a college student attempted to seriously harm herself.
The girl entered the toilet and did not come out. The door remained locked from inside, and there was no response to calls or knocks. Other women present became concerned when they heard nothing, officials said.
Police alerted
A woman at the station informed the police after realising the girl was not responding.
The railway police officers arrived at the scene and forced the door open.
They found, the woman lying inside the washroom following which she was taken immediately to St George’s Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police confirmed that the woman is currently stable and undergoing treatment and a probe was underway.
