On Sunday afternoon, during a routine bus journey in Mumbai, a 60-year-old woman passed away. According to the preliminary information received, the incident happened on the bus which was en route from Sion to Plaza. The passenger passed away when the bus was near Dharavi Police Station around 4.30 pm.

The conductor of the bus noticed a female passenger fainting in the bus and collapsing from her seat, said Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking in their media statement. The conductor and bus driver, taking prompt action, took the passenger to Sion Hospital to get urgent medical attention.

Unfortunately, the woman was declared dead by doctors before she could secure admission to the hospital, the statement added.

It further stated that the deceased woman, identified as Suman Pandurang Hajare (60), was declared dead at 4.45 pm by a team of doctors led by one Dr Yusuf at the Sion Hospital.

Events as such have previously happened on the BEST buses wherein passengers passed away while travelling.

Earlier in July, a distressing incident occurred when a 54-year-old passenger, identified as Pradeep Sawant, suddenly fainted while on board a BEST bus. The unfortunate incident transpired near Tagore Nagar Junction, and the bus was en route to Majas Depot. BEST officials swiftly initiated emergency measures. The ailing passenger was promptly transported to a nearby civic-run Trauma Care Hospital. However, the medical team declared Sawant deceased on arrival.

On a separate note, in June, a a 79-year-old passenger named Mahesh Anarkat experienced severe chest pain when the bus--going from Worli Depot to Colaba Depot--reached the Nagpada bus stop. The BEST authorities arranged for the passenger's immediate transfer to Sir JJ Hospital to receive vital medical treatment. However, Anarkat was declared dead by the on-duty doctors.
