The newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) completed its first day of commercial operations on Thursday, with bus services witnessing a strong response from passengers and visitors.
Airport operations for the day concluded at 8 pm, marking the end of the airport’s initial 12 hours of service.
Several buses departing from the airport were reported to be full, particularly the A4 service connecting NMIA to Nerul railway station, as travellers and visitors returned home.
Officials said the smooth movement of passengers highlighted the importance of public transport connectivity during the airport’s opening phase.
Multiple AC bus routes for travellers
To support passenger movement, a network of air-conditioned (AC) bus services has been introduced between the airport and key railway stations and transport hubs across Navi Mumbai.
The routes are operated through the NMIAL City Transport Centre (CTC) and connect major suburban railway stations, depots and staff facilities.

NMCC releases timetable for buses connecting Khandeshwar to Navi Mumbai airport
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) transport department has released the official timetable for Bus Route A-5, which connects Khandeshwar Railway Station with the Navi Mumbai International Airport area. The revised schedule and notice were issued from the Aasudgaon depot.
Route A-5 has been planned to provide reliable public transport connectivity between the suburban railway network and the Navi Mumbai international airport, benefiting daily commuters, airport staff, and passengers.
As per the timetable, buses will operate at regular intervals throughout the day, starting early in the morning and continuing till late at night.
Timings of services
Morning services from Khandeshwar Railway Station begin at 6:32 am, with multiple departures scheduled during peak hours to manage the commuter rush. Services continue steadily through the afternoon and evening. As per the official release, the last bus will depart from Khandeshwar Railway Station at 12:16 am, ensuring late-night connectivity.
Similarly, buses from the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) to Khandeshwar Railway Station start around 6.58 am and operate at frequent intervals till midnight.
As per the release issued by the Thane Municipal Corporation’s transport department, the last bus from Navi Mumbai International Airport towards Khandeshwar will depart at 11:50 pm. Furthermore, it has also been informed that all services on Route A-5 will stop at designated bus stops along the route.
