Mumbai Police have put in place elaborate security arrangements ahead of the Dussehra, Vijayadashami, and Navratri celebrations on Thursday, October 2. Mumbai is expected to witness large gatherings, cultural programmes, and grand immersion processions of goddess idols as part of the annual festivities.

The security arrangements have been planned under the supervision of the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), as per the guidance of the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.

To ensure law and order and manage traffic, seven Additional Commissioners of Police, 26 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 52 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 2,890 police officers, and 16,552 police personnel have been deployed across the city.

Moreover, specialised units, including SRPF platoons, Rapid Response Teams, Riot Control Teams, Delta Force, Combat Units, and Home Guards, have also been stationed at sensitive and crowded locations to ensure safety during the festive celebrations and gatherings.

Mumbai Police has also urged the citizens to cooperate with authorities, exercise restraint in crowded areas, and immediately inform the police if any suspicious or unwanted items are found. For assistance, people can reach out to police helplines 100 or 112.
