In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old man lost his life due to electrocution after coming in contact with an electricity pole in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday evening in the Kashmir Compound area of Nalapar, located in the bustling industrial town of Bhiwandi, a police official informed, reported news agency PTI.
The victim, identified as Sajaad Lalmohammad Jabbar Ansari, resident of Karivali Talao area in Bhiwandi, came in contact with an electric pole situated on the ground.
"He suffered a severe electric shock and collapsed immediately. Locals at the spot rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival," an official from Bhoiwada police station said, quoting preliminary findings, reported news agency PTI.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the police have, as of now, registered a case of accidental death, he said.
"We are looking into whether there was any negligence," the official said, reported PTI.
Thane: Man snatches doctor's high-end phone on express train; GRP launches probe
In a shocking incident, an unidentified assailant allegedly attacked a doctor travelling on a long-distance train and fled with the victim’s high-end mobile phone, valued at approximately Rs 1.29 lakh. The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Thane district and came to light on Wednesday when the police reported the crime, reported news agency PTI.
The incident, which occurred near Dativali railway station on April 28, was reported to the Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday, reported news agency PTI.
According to a GRP official, the 30-year-old doctor was travelling on the Dadar-Hubli Express. As the train neared Dativali, an unidentified person allegedly hit the victim's hand, causing his iPhone to fall, reported news agency PTI.
The attacker then quickly picked up the mobile phone and fled the spot, the official said, reported PTI.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under section 304 (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the unidentified culprit, the official stated, reported PTI.
The complaint and the FIR did not elaborate on the reason for the delay in reporting the incident.
