The Central Railway has launched efforts to trace a woman passenger after her viral video of cooking instant noodles using an electric kettle inside an AC coach of an express train has raised safety concerns, officials said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.

A Central Railway official told PTI that the woman passenger has been identified and efforts are on to trace her. She will face action under section 147(1) of the Railways Act.

The video shows an electric kettle plugged into a mobile charging socket. The woman, speaking in Marathi, says she prepared tea for 10-15 people using the same method.

After the widely circulated video raised serious concerns over passenger safety and potential fire hazards, Central Railway said action was being taken against the channel that posted the clip as well as the person involved.

"Using an electronic kettle inside trains is strictly prohibited. It is unsafe, illegal, and a punishable offence. It can lead to a fire incidence and be disastrous for other passengers also. May also cause disruption of electric supply and malfunction of the AC and other electronic ports in the Train," the Central Railway stated on X.

The CR has appealed to passengers to avoid such hazardous behaviour and urged them to immediately report similar activities to the authorities to ensure onboard safety.

India Post sets up service desk at CSMT metro station

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated service desk, set up by India Post and Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, along with art installations at the CSMT station of the Aqua Metro Line, will enhance commuter services and promote postal initiatives, officials said.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Postmaster General of Maharashtra and Goa circle, Amitabh Singh, Mumbai Region postal services director Kaiya Arora, and senior officials of India Post and MMRCL on Friday.

India Post has also opened a dedicated service desk that offers philatelic products such as augmented reality postcards, themed coasters, water bottles, and tote bags. It will also provide information on various postal services to commuters, according to an official release.

The newly installed artworks at the station highlight the range of India Post's services and products, combining visual appeal with information about the department's heritage and modern offerings, it said.

A special "My Stamp" facility has been set up at the station, allowing visitors to create personalised stamps featuring their photographs.

The India Post, in collaboration with the metro operation body, aims to bring citizen-centric services closer to the public by integrating them with high-footfall transit hubs, the release said.

Similar service desks and installations are planned at three more metro stations at BKC, SEEPZ, and Cuffe Parade in the next phase.
