Mumbai News LIVE Updates: Maharashtra Government announces key transfers for IAS officers
The Maharashtra state government has announced a series of transfers of senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers with effect from December 19, 2025. The transfer orders, issued by the department of general administration, reflect a reshuffling of key officials in the finance, planning, and revenue departments. Shaila A has been appointed as the secretary and development commissioner, planning department, Mantralaya, Mumbai, after serving as secretary (financial reforms) in the finance department. Dr Kashmira Sankhe moves from assistant collector, Tumsar Sub-Division, to project officer, ITDP Kalwan and assistant collector, Kalwan Sub-Division, Nashik. Arun M is transferred from assistant collector, Charmoshi Sub-Division, to project officer, ITDP Gadchiroli and assistant collector, Gadchiroli Sub-Division. These transfers aim to enhance governance in tribal and key development sectors, the state said.

Mumbai News LIVE Updates: HC suggests covering waste, strict segregation to tackle emissions
The court suggested certain measures such as covering the waste with tarpaulins and sheets, strict segregation of wet and dry waste, and ensuring unloading does not allow emissions to mix with the surrounding environment. Chavan informed the court that short-term measures could be implemented immediately and that IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi were being consulted for mitigation strategies. The HC was, however, not satisfied and said the "corporation was a silent spectator", adding that citizens should not be forced to approach courts for such basic issues.
