Amid the drama surrounding the on-today-off-tomorrow Chand Mohammed-Fiza saga, lady love Fiza insists that she may have let Chand back into her house, but he is yet to conquer her heart

Chand Mohammed alias Chander Mohan may have returned to his love nest, but is yet to conquer his love.

After months of hiding from his lady love Anuradha Bali alias Fiza Mohammad, Haryana's former deputy chief minister is back in her Mohali home.

On the first day of his return the couple held hands and put up a show for the media waving in apparent joy.

But 37-year-old former assistant advocate general of Haryana alleges the show was just a publicity gimmick.

"Chand is back in my home, but we are not living as husband and wife. He stays in the living room while I am in my bedroom, with the door bolted," she said in a telephonic conversation from her Mohali residence, insinuating that she is yet to forgive her husband, who left her in a public show of apparent callousness.

So, could his return be a political stunt? "Could be. I am not sure," said Fiza.

Political stunt?

"Our culture doesn't teach us to treat guests with disrespect. Chand came to me begging for forgiveness and I couldn't turn him away. But when he started pestering me to forgive him, I told him I didn't trust him anymore," she said.

She added, "Just to reinstate my trust, he apologised in front of the media. And then, when photographers were clicking us together, he suddenly caught my hands and waved them high in the air.

I didn't like the physical display of affection, but keeping his family's reputation in mind, I didn't protest in public."

"But once inside the house, I told him to not to play games with me. I told him, 'Battameezi maat kijeye (don't misbehave with me)'," she said, asserting there is a certain lack of warmth in their relationship now.

"A lot has happened since he left home and left me to die. He went back to his wife and family. Now he has returned and is requesting me not to take any action against him.

Though I am not sure if I love him as much as I used to, I may not take any action, only to protect his father's reputation."

Can't trust him

If Fiza is to be believed, Chand is trying every trick in Cupid's book and a few out of it too, to woo his lady love. But Fiza isn't one to relent that easy.

"It's been two days now that he has come back to me. I need time to think and to convince myself to forgive him," said Fiza.

So, isn't his return a balm for her broken heart?

"No woman can resist when the man she loved once returns to her begging for forgiveness. Even I can't. But I am not a poster girl. I cannot trust his intentions yet."
