Suresh Reddy has approached State Human Rights Commission, the Home Minister and the city Police Commissioner seeking action against the misuse of power.

Reddy who was constructing a house in HSR Layout had appointed Chetan, a watchman to guard the building. On December 5, a group of men tried to steal material from the site. The gang beat Chetan black and blue when he tried to raise an alarm, and fled the scene.

Reddy rushed to the spot and took Chetan to the HSR Layout police station to file a complaint. While they stepped out of the station, Chetan saw the two from their attackers entering the station and chatting with ASI Surachar, who was the station in-charge.

Chetan and Reddy told Surachar that these were the same people who had beaten him up. Surachar assured them that he would detain them, while asking Reddy to take Chetan to the hospital and come back.

After he returned from the hospital, Reddy saw the gang missing. Suachar explained that there was a 'technical snag' and that there was no mention of the two in the complaint. When Reddy tried to explain that the victim had identified the attackers in his presence, Surachar shooed him away saying that it was not sufficient.

Unable to argue further, Reddy returned and appointed Rahul, another guard, since Chetan had quit the job.
The gang appeared again on December 7, and beat up Rahul, threatening him with dire consequences. Reddy again rushed to the police station to file a complaint. But Surachar not only refused to take up the complaint but also abused him, stating that he has better work to do than solving his problem.

Reddy got agitated and started recording the conversation, demanding an explanation, why he had let the gang go earlier when the victim had identified him. After much pressure, Surachar told him that he had let them off on his senior's instructions.

Surachar told Reddy that the gang was notorious, and that he was helpless to take any action against them.
"I am shocked and distressed with this attitude. Despite telling him that I was an advocate, Surachar failed to act. Imagine the plight of a common man," Reddy told MiD DAY adding that this showed that the police are safeguarding the interest of anti-social elements.

Inspector LY Rajesh assured him that he would look into the mater and take necessary action. But Reddy says that nothing has been done despite him filing two complaints.

Deputy Commissioner of Police BNS Reddy said, "I would look into the matter. I have not received any complaints in this regard."
