Cop injures inspector in petty tiff, latter beats him up; officials try to play down issue

This is what allegedly transpired between a constable and an assistant sub-inspector at HSR Layout police station on Sunday.
What paved the way for the generous exchange of blows was a petty tiff over allocation of duties.
"When Constable Basavaraju objected to the allocation of duties made by Assistant Sub-Inspector Domonic, the latter told him to complain to his superiors if he had an issue with him," said a source.
"Domonic also raked up past issues about Basavaraju being irregular at work," said the source. "This irritated Basavaraju and he yanked Domonic who fell down and was injured."
After the initial shock wore off, Domonic stood up and started beating Basavaraju, the source added.

"The situation got really ugly and both the constable and the inspector were serious injured," another source said.
When senior officials learnt about the matter, they took both Domonic and Basavaraju to Jayanagar General Hospital where they were treated in the out-patient department. Both have since been discharged.
However, senior police officials have not taken too kindly to the cops' juvenile behaviour.
"A case has been registered against both for indiscipline at the police station," the sources said.
Station Police Inspector LY Rajesh initially denied such an incident had taken place, and later tried to play it down.
"It was just a minor pow-wow between them," Rajesh told MiD DAY. "They are like brothers and that was just an act of affection."
