Things could have taken an ugly turn for 16-year-old Dnyaneshwar Jadhav when he fell off the footboard of a train on Tuesday.Fortunately, Jadhav escaped the mishap with an injured left palm.
Jadhav, who was on his way home in Mankhurd, fell off the footboard the moment train pulled out of the Vashi station. A science student at the Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College in Vashi, the teenager said the accident occurred after he felt giddy and his grip on the pole at the door slackened, eventually leading to his fall.

Jadhav said he boarded the train in a hurry to catch up with his friends who he saw boarding another compartment. “I felt giddy and lost my grip on the pole. It was my friends who rushed me to a hospital in Govandi,” said Jadhav. He was later shifted to DY Patil Hospital in Nerul in the evening.
It was Jadhav’s friends who informed his mother Savita about his accident. Savita said she was extremely worried and had a hunch that something had happened to her son after he did not reply to any of her calls on Tuesday afternoon.
Savita said, “We cannot afford the city life and are planning to go back to our hometown in Solapur. His father is unemployed and I am a part of Bachat Gat scheme. The accident has left us penniless, and has forced us to borrow money from relatives and friends. The only thing that has brought us solace was the fact that he survived.”

From the kind of injury he sustained it appears he fell on a sharp object. It would take over six weeks for him to start moving his hand again.”u00a0
