A 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly set on fire by four men after they forcibly entered her house Thursday in Hama village of Madhya Pradesh's Chhattarpur district and misbehaved with her, succumbed to her injuries in the wee hours of Friday, police said.

"Four people identified as Ramakant, Hiralal Rawat, Deepak Kumar and Ashok Rawat had entered Sangeeta's house while she was alone at home and started misbehaving with her," police officer Sameer Yadav said.

"When she opposed them, they doused her with kerosene and set her on fire," he added.

A case has been registered against the four men on the basis of the girl's statement.

The police has launched a hunt for the accused who are still absconding.
