He urged that India needs prosperity without poverty. A question answer session was also conducted subsequently and students from various colleges questioned Dr Kalam on his vision for India 2020.
But his talk was not just about India, education and world power. Dr Kalam also recited few of his poems and also asked the student to join the chorus.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also spoke at the next session on the topic 'India vs Bharat: Urban rural divide and its spiritual contribution'. "If we are not proud of our heritage, then we can't prosper. We have to stand on our feet and work towards development instead of cribbing about the deficiencies our country has," he said.
He stressed that teamwork is necessary in order to prosper. In addition, he preached that Gross Domestic Happiness is much more important than Gross Domestic Product.
In the question-answer session, a student participant asked him the worst and the best quality of the Indian youth.
"Indian youth have a carefree attitude, seriousness is required. But despite worse circumstances, they will not let that deter their confidence and will march ahead with full zeal," he said.
