Prime accused confesses to stealing explosives from Ernakulam depot

He is also said to have stated that he had conducted a survey along with Sarfaraz Nawaz, a former SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) secretary, to choose the targets. The Intelligence Bureau had arrested Nawaz in Muscat in March 2009.

Prime accused T Nasser

Nasser told investigators that he met Nawaz during a Sufi program held at Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district, in April 2006.

Nawaz had come to Kerala on vacation. Nasser soon learnt that Nawaz is acquainted with LeT operative Wali alias Rehan alias Ali alias Abdul Azeez Al-Hoti, a Pakistani national and resident of Muscat.

Hoti got in touch with Nasser through Nawaz and ordered him to carry out the bomb blasts in either Bangalore or Chennai.

He later directed Nasser to target Bangalore. Nawaz and Nasser then surveyed Bangalore in March 2008, and selected the areas to target.u00a0

Nawaz then left for Muscat and explained his Bangalore assessment to Hoti, who later sent him money using the hawala channel.

Nasser and his associates, Abdul Rahim, Shafaz, Fayis, Yasir and Umar Farooq, allegedly chalked out the Bangalore blast plan in Jamia mosque near the Mysore bus stand in May 2008.

They allegedly robbed IEDs from Ernakulam explosive depots and connected the digital timers to the IEDs supplied to them by one Sarfuddin.

Sainuddin alias Sattar Bhai is a close associate of Nassar Madani, founder of People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Sainuddin taught Nasser everything about switching devices and circuit diagrams which were used in IED explosives.

Nasser also confessed that Sainuddin has supplied digital timers to Riyaz Bhatkal for engineering the blasts in Gujarat.

Nasser along with his associate Rahim allegedly met Madani at his Kollam residence in July 2008 and informed him about the bombing plan.

Madani allegedly said that the plan was good but it should not result in the arrest of youth as had happened in the Coimbatore serial blasts.

However, Madani neither dissuaded Nasser or openly approved of it, remaining non-committal, Nasser said.

Madani did not ask about the ways and means of preparation for the blast and even after the blast when Nasser met Madani he started avoiding him.u00a0

Nasser realized that Madani was non-committal to jehadi activities and stopped communicating with him.

But Nasser continued his contact with Nawaz and with the help of his associate K P Sabir alias Ayub managed to prepare five youths and sent them to Kashmir in August 2008. The youths were later killed in an encounter.u00a0
