"An infiltration bid was foiled in Gujjar Dur area of Keran sector today. Three militants have been killed in the operation," a defence spokesman said.

He said search operation in the area was going on till last reports came in. The operation against the infiltrating militants in the nearby Shalbhati village of Keran sector entered 11th day today.

Intermittent exchange of firing was going on in the area, defence sources said. A group of heavily armed militants tried to infiltrate into Kashmir through Keran sector on September 24 but were intercepted by the army.

General officer Commanding of the 15 Corps Lt Gen Gurmit Singh had said the strength of infiltrators was between 30 and 40 and the analysis of the operation indicated presence of special troops among the militants.

Lt Gen Singh had said that 10 to 12 militants were killed on September 26 while operation was on against the remaining ultras.
