The man who helped nab MLA Y Sampangi has challenged the Speaker KG Bopaiah's decision to spare the tainted legislator in a graft case
Hussain Mueen Farooq, a city based businessman who helped the Lokayukta trap KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) MLA
Y Sampangi red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh, has filed a writ petition in the High Court, objecting to Speaker KG Bopaiah's clean chit to him.
It may be recalled that a seven-member legislature panel headed by Bopaiah has given Sampangi a clean chit and had recommended that the bribery scandal be treated as closed in March. Farooq has also appealed to the HC to cancel his bail since he violated the terms by threatening the witnesses.

"The witnesses are under constant threat since his release on bail, and despite complaints, the police have failed to respond," he added. The Lokayukta officials have filed repeated applications seeking cancellation of his bail, but it has not been considered.
Farooq stated in his petition that the State Home Secretary should provide security to him as long as Sampangi is on bail until the sessions court decides upon the case. Otherwise, the complainant and witnesses will have to live under constant threat from him.
He added that he has also made a representation to the President of India, seeking permission for euthanasia, because of harassment from Sampangi. Deliberating on the Speaker's role, Farooq said that Speaker has given a clean chit to Sampangi which is illegal, and without authority of law, as the case is pending before the court.
The panel, has on the contrary, in its report tabled in the state assembly had recommended that the businessman Hussain Muheen Farooq, who had allegedly paid a Rs 5 lakh bribe, including Rs 50,000
in cash, for settling a civil dispute, should be "censured for making false charges and thereby bringing disrepute" to the BJP MLA.
The case is expected to come before the bench next week. "The objections are filed and awaiting arguments," said State Public Prosecutor Chandramouli.
