Following his arrest, flesh trade, escort agencies witness slump in business
It seems the arrest of Rajiv Ranjan Dwivedi alias Sex Baba has unnerved people from his fraternity. There is evidence that the capital's escort agencies have witnessed a steep decline in business.
Many agencies have filtered their customers by entertaining only those who visit frequently. An agent working with Escorts4you, a high-profile agency operating from Safdarjung Enclave in south Delhi, said on conditions of anonymity: "We have recorded a steep fall in our business. It has almost gone down by 40-45 per cent.
Most of our old high profile customers have made no communication with us since the outbreak of the news. Regular customers who used to visit us twice a week have now started keeping at bay, fearing being tapped by the police."
The sex trade is also running short of pimps and call girls. When a MiD Day reporter posed as an interested customer, Kimberline who runs A1 escort agency said, "Reference is a must and then also we will take three to four hours to give our services as most of the girls are on leave. You have to come alone and we will provide you a girl near any mall located in south Delhi."u00a0
According to the police, Baba was the mastermind behind an organised prostitution syndicate operating across
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said, "We have found four accounts in the name of Dwivedi in the capital. He was trying to take off and was planning his future. His eyes were on foreign donations including some from Christian missionaries."
