Following are the charges under which a convict in India can get a death sentence:

* Waging or attempting to wage war, or abetting the waging of war, against the government of India -- death or imprisonment for life and fine.


* Abetment of mutiny, if mutiny is committed in consequence thereof -- death or imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for 10 years and fine.



* Murder by a person under sentence of imprisonment for life -- death.

* Abetment of suicide committed by child, or insane or delirious person or an idiot, or a person intoxicated -- death or imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for 10 years and fine.

* Attempt by life convict to murder, if hurt is caused -- death or imprisonment for 10 years and fine

* Murder in dacoity -- death, imprisonment for life, or rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and fine.
