Chocolate Fudge at Cooper's, Lonavla

Cooper's, a hole-in-the-wall shop near Lonavla station is responsible for a whole population of travellers taking a detour to the hill station while on their way to Pune or beyond. This one is high on taste but low on ambience, so, don't expect a swanky store that dishes out dessert in fancy packaging. In fact, it's nothing more than a counter guarded by staff that often fumbles while handling a queue of customers that winds out of the shop and on to the street outside.

If you are patient enough to wait your turn, you'll get to sample the variety on offer, including the season's latest introduction. But it's the Chocolate Walnut Fudge that you cannot leave without packing.
TIP: Don't be surprised if you find the shutters down. The owners, a laidback Parsi family, don't work round the clock. They open shop at 10 am, close at noon for a siesta, are back from 3 pm to 5 pm.
