Though no casualties were reported, the store suffered severe losses as the entire stock went up in flames

Though no casualty was reported, the store suffered severe loss as everything inside the shop was burnt to ash.

The fire brigade reached the spot immediately and it took six fire tenders and 25 fire fighters about an hour to douse the blaze.

The store was completely damaged in the fire. Chief Fire Officer Ramesh takes a stock of the situation.

Ramesh, Chief Fire Officer (East), said, "The fire started from the first floor and grew from there. The store has been completely damaged. However, we have yet to ascertain the cause of the fire."

GB Manjunath, ACP (Ulsoor), also arrived at the spot. Speaking to MiD DAY, he said, "The flames were first noticed by a cop who was patrolling the area at night.

He immediately called the fire control room and informed us about the incident."

Meanwhile, Gopi Kuberdran (25), an employee of the ill-fated shop, said, "We had closed the shop at 9.30 pm and left.

I have no idea how it could've happened. I rushed to the shop as soon as I heard about the fire."

V Shiva, a resident of Car Street, said, "The shop was closed when the incident took place. We saw the fire on the first floor and soon it spread to the second floor as well."

Incidentally, this is the second major fire in the last two days.

On Sunday night, a fire broke out in a computer hardware shop on the Old Taluk Catchery (OTC) Road. Computer parts worth Rs 1.5 crore were damaged in the fire.
