New Delhi: A Delhi court has acquitted four persons accused of killing a 35-year-old man after robbing him of Rs one lakh, blaming the police for conducting "shoddy and fishy" investigation in the case.
Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Kumar Jain, while letting off the accused of charges of murder, robbery and criminal conspiracy, said the case was based on circumstantial evidence and there was no direct proof against them.

"The entire substratum of prosecution case that they arrested the accused persons on secret information appears totally suspicious.
"The entire investigation was shoddy and fishy. The police appears to have not brought the facts in the manner revealed to them during investigation," the judge said.
The court observed that the entire prosecution case rests on the alleged recoveries consequent to the disclosure statements of the accused but "the recoveries do not appear to be credible at all."
The court acquitted all four accused- Abdul Rehman, Shamshad, Mohd Mamur and Afroj Ajam- from Bihar, under sections 302 (murder), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
According to prosecution, West Bengal native Bulbul Khan was found dead in front of his house in Sangam Vihar here on July 2, 2013. It said that ten days later the police arrested accused Abdul Rehman after receiving secret information, and then through him, it recovered robbed money of Rs 1.07 lakh and some documents of the victim and arrested the remaining accused.
The court, however, noted that the prosecution has not been able to show through any witness that on the day of the incident, the deceased had Rs 1.07 lakh in his possession.
"In these circumstances, the case of prosecution that the police had arrested the accused on the basis of secret information becomes doubtful," it said, adding that there were anomalies in the statement of police and other witnesses.
