26-year-old victim was trying to overtake bus at Jamia Nagar

Twenty-six-year-old Gaurav Sharma's life ended tragically when he was crushed to death by a DTC bus while trying to save two passengers who were stepping down from the bus on Thursday.



The accident took place at around 8.30 am in the Abdul Fazal Enclave area of Jamia Nagar in south Delhi.

According to the police, Gaurav, a resident of Meethapur, was on his way to his office on a motorcycle when a DTC bus, plying on Route No 400 between Kalindi Kunj and Minto Road, hit him.

The police said they received a call around 8.44 am and according to eyewitnesses, Gaurav was trying to overtake the DTC bus but two people suddenly stepped in front of his bike. "To save these two he took a sharp right turn and his bike slipped. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," said a police official.u00a0

The bus driver has been arrested and a case of negligent driving been registered against him.
