By using the 'found footage' style, a filming technique most often associated with The Blair Witch Project, writer-director Oren Peli succeeds in pressing our noses up so close to the narrative, we're scared to breathe too heavily, in case we contribute to the sense of menace. The deliberately choppy camerawork, however, can get draining in parts, given the film's running time of almost 90 minutes.

Sadly, the only extra feature on the DVD is the alternate ending, which is not nearly as scary as the first, but is still good for cheap thrills. A feature that would have been interesting to include, especially given that the film was shot in a span of one week, would be director's commentary for insights into the making of the film.

Behind-the-scenes footage as well as interviews with the cast are some of the other features that would have easily made this DVD a must-buy. For now though, all we have to look forward to is watching the film alone in the dead of night for a guaranteed fright.
