New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a dreaded criminal, who was wanted in eight cases, in connection with murder of a Haryana Police Inspector.

The arrested accused, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was identified as Mahesh Kumar (27), a resident of Najafgarh area, police said. The police made the arrest on the basis of a tip-off that Kumar was coming towards South-West Delhi on January 18.

During investigation, the accused told the police that slain police Inspector Ram Kishan was responsible for an encounter in which brother of notorious gangster Manoj Morkheri was killed.

Mahesh waited for the Haryana police officer to retire from the service and on December 30, 2013, he chased Ram Kishan from his house in Nehru Colony of Rohtak to Shastri Nagar (Hissar) and shot him dead to avenge the encounter, police said.
