Accused allegedly tried to bribe raiding cops

Two persons allegedly involved in printing and circulating counterfeit currency in the Capital were arrested by Delhi police from Jaitpur and Hari Nagar areas late on Sunday night. A senior police officer said that acting on a tip-off, cops have arrested the duo identified as Mool Chand alias Mulla and Tapan Chakraborty.

"Fake currency has been recovered in huge quantity from their possession. They tried to bribe our officials when they were caught," said a police source.

According to a police source, Mool Chand was arrested from Jaitpur in southeast Delhi. During interrogation he broke down and claimed that Tapan provided him with the counterfeit currency. Tapan too was arrested based on the information provided.

No FIR had been registered at the time of going to press.
