Udhagamandalam: A 48-year-old farmer was allegedly trampled to death by an elephant at Kozhithorai near Udhagamandalam, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when Natarajan, a resident of Jogikambai tribal hamlet, had gone to visit his sister in Kozhithorai village, they said.


As he did not return home till midnight, his relatives went out to look for him and found his trampled body in the early hours in Mamaram area, some 40 kms from here, police said.



The body, with injuries on stomach and legs, was taken to the Government Hospital in Kothagiri, they said.
