Say Fireweavers, a dramatics and filmmaking community in Pune, formed purely because of a common bonding factor: the love of theatre
"We were fifteen people when we started in September 2007. In the beginning, we were just friends who were into drama in college, and so we formed a group. Initially, we tried to start a venture for making short films, but the sponsors backed out. And because of the recession the venture got shelved," said Yogesh Baldotra (26) one of the founders.
But this group was hell-bent on carrying this activity forward, come what may. They started making short films by December 2007, which were screened at the Ivy Studio and the response was really good, Yogesh admitted. The word spread and new people joined in. "We grew to a larger group of 50 people," he added.
Other members feel the same. For instance Rakhee Choudhury (26), a real estate professional told us,
"We love what we do. We write and execute the projects ourselves, and we do plays, which normal people can relate to."
Fireweavers will be doing an event from February 26-27, staging three short plays: Love Never Dies,
Who am I, and Love Me, Arrange Me.
