Londhe's body was found in a water body with a nylon rope tied around his stomach and a stone at the other end of the rope.
An offence of murder and causing disappearance of evidence was registered at the Chatushrungi police station.
Police Inspector (Crime) Bhimrao Tile of the Chatushrungi police station said, "The murder suspects had snatched all the identity proofs from the deceased before killing him, making it difficult for us to identify him.
But after the news was published in local newspapers about the body found in Baner with a tattoo on the hand that read Ashwini, Londhe's brother approached us. When we enquired with his family, it was clear that he had gone out with his friends on the night of Thursday. We questioned his friends and they confessed to murdering him."
Tile added, "The four took this extreme step because they believed that the deceased had stolen Kamble's uncle's cell phone."
Constables Bhende, Birajdar and Landge played an important role in the detection of the crime.
