On May 7, a woman entered the BB Jewellers showroom at DN Nagar in Andheri (west) with two pairs of gold earrings which were actually made of bronze and asked the shop owner Mukesh Singhvi to exchange the earrings with new gold rings. Singhvi valued them at Rs 10,000

He exchanged them for gold rings worth Rs 8,000 and paid her Rs 2,000 in cash. The next day, 30 year-old Manju Jaiswal came to the shop to pawn a pair of earrings which were identical to the ones he had received the previous day.u00a0

An acid test revealved that they were fake. He alerted the security guards who nabbed the woman. Senior Police Inspector Vijaykumar Bhoite of DN Nagar police station said, “We have arrested the accused on charges of cheating and theft and remanded her to police custody till May 21u00a0
