Who said you can't have brainwaves, especially eco friendly ones during a bicycle trip. Pankaj Mangal, Pradeep Sharma and Gaurav Mehndiratta, all corporate pushers, came up with a brilliant brainwave during one such bike ride out of town. "The idea was born during our first 100 km bicycle trip from Bangalore to Bhimeshwari around five months back," explains Pankaj Mangal from The Art of Bicycle Trips, a company launched in August this year, that takes people on bicycle safaris in the city as well as out-of-town.

"We sat under the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and contemplated over the experience that we have had so far. That's how the whole idea of Art of Bicycle Trips emerged." Since then the crew have set up two tours: the Victorian Bangalore Safari - a half day tour which brings you closer to Bangalore's Victorian architecture and the Nrityagram Dance Village Safari, Hessarghatta.

The latter is a two-day tour stretching over approximately 40 kms. Cyclists will be taken to explore the countryside, with an overnight stay in Nrityagram dance village, where they can enjoy Indian classical dance performances and try their hands at activities such as pottery, archery etc.

Four months into the project the response has been very good.u00a0 "This is just a start," says Pankaj.u00a0 "As the idea gets built up we will come out with more tours. There will be something for everyone."

All tours commence at 6.30 am to beat the Bangalore traffic. Asked what kind of people can join in these trips, Pankaj says: "anyone who loves life and believes in doing something which brings his or her senses to life.

Basically, it attracts people from all walks of life. Getting up early on a Sunday morning for a trip shows the enthusiasm and excitement that people are filled with."

Interested cyclists should book their tour 48 hours in advance.u00a0
