Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday accused the Central Government of trying to suppress anti-corruption movements in the country

Addressing mediapersons here, Ramdev said: "The government maligns the image of those who raise their voice. People in the country must understand the intention of the government, even if it is Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and Balakrishna."

"Earlier, even leaders like Jai Prakash Narain and even during the time of emergency, whoever dared to raise their voice was crushed by the government. This is still going on after 64 years of independence," he added.

Ramdev, who along with his supporters faced police crackdown during their agitation at Ramlila Maidan on June 4, also said that government describes every democratic movement as ''undemocratic''.

"We are living under dictatorship. The leaders of the central government themselves make undemocratic moves and they portray anti-corruption crusaders in a wrong light," said Ramdev.

The yoga guru had been on a hunger strike against corruption along with 65,000 followers when the Delhi Police on the Central Government''s orders cracked down on their camp late on the night of June 4 at the Ramlila Maidan.
